Dating apps seem to be the hot topic of conversation as of late—but not for the best reasons... 🐝🔥 First, Bumble. The dating app’s latest billboard campaign is sparking passionate social-media discourse accusing Bumble of dismissing women’s (perfectly valid) choice to be celibate. They've since issued an apology and said that they will be removing these ads from their global marketing campaign and donating to charity. Then, there's Tinder and Hinge. Six plaintiffs sued Match Group, the parent company of Tinder and Hinge, claiming that they gamify dating and turn users into "addicts.” They also claimed that Match Group isn’t interested in helping users find genuine connections, but instead, they want to keep users purchasing subscriptions and other paid perks to help boost revenue, according to NPR. If you’re currently single, or have been in the past few years, you’ve probably felt the growing frustration around dating apps. Dating can feel hopeless. So much so that people are ditching the apps altogether in favor of trying to find love the old fashion way. Which is easier said than done. But are dating apps the problem, or are we the problem? 🤔 Today's guest is Stephanie Danzi, the senior vice president of global marketing at Tinder. Avery and Stephanie chat about dating app burnout, what people are getting wrong about Tinder, and whether dating apps will ever go away. Tune in now! https://lnkd.in/g9Gbxicg

I was put in the friend-zone. 😐 Here's what it taught me about asking for a promotion: Just kidding, but seriously. Someone asked us: "I want to go for a promotion, and I know I was hired a step below so I have the skill set, how should I approach it all?" And our course instructor Tori Lazar took us step by step on what to say, how to stay motivated and when to leave in our recent AMA session! 🤔 1. Get clear on WHY you’re worthy of a promotion. Synthesize and present your outcomes and impact up until this point. 🎨 2. Paint the picture of how you’d like to grow. Use these prompts as a jumping board: — Is there an open role or a particular position that you’re going for and can base this on? — What projects are you interested in contributing to that you aren’t included in right now? — Why do your differentiators and strengths uniquely position you to take on such things? — Why is this valuable for your growth? What muscles or skills are you trying to flex and build? ✍ 3. Have high-value questions ready to go about their compensation and promotion philosophy. — How do they determine who is given a promotion? What are the metrics? What’s the process to be considered? — What’s the salary band at this particular level and how is the final number and benefits package determined? How would your current compensation package change? — Why wouldn’t they be open to giving you a promotion right now? Are there any challenges or obstacles to be aware of? How can your supervisor help you overcome them? 🧠 4. Know your non-negotiables and set decision-making deadlines. 🗣 5. Make moves. Get the conversation on the calendar and ensure your supervisor is aware of the discussion topic so they aren’t left in the dark or taken off-guard. Then, PRACTICE your delivery points. 🧘♀️ 6. Lastly, if fear is creeping in or holding you back, use this as your mantra to drive through it – “Well-prepared people are courageous people. I am well-prepared and I am courageous.” Want in on the next AMA session with Tori? These sessions are exclusive to people who have our "Spark Your Career Renaissance" course! I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend. 💍 Here's what it taught me about B2B sales: Like a well-run sales cycle, key milestones must be met throughout the relationship to ensure a Closed Won status at the end. 1.🕵️ Prospecting: Not every prospect or partner will be the right fit. Identifying the right fit takes time. You can't be afraid to say "No" to find the person you know will value your offer most. 2.💡Discovery: Doing deep discovery is critical. Getting happy ears after a positive first date is easy, but you must continue to dig to understand the long-term fit. Understanding and calculating ROI is crucial in this early stage. 3. 📺 Demo: If you're confident there is a strong fit, showing your product to potential buyers is essential. Don't simply speak to the features or functionality; explain the results the other person can expect. Ideally, include a trial so they can try the product and get a feel for it. 4. 💰Pricing: After demoing and, ideally, getting their hands on the product, your prospect is ready to buy. This is where the crucial step of pricing comes in. Know your worth, and don't discount to close the sale. Keep your integrity and present pricing firmly. 5. 🤝 Negotiations: There will be concessions. One party may want something the other party isn't willing to give up. Know what you care about most, and work hard to get it. For the things you care less about, be prepared to concede and give the other party what they want. 6. 🎾Handling Objections: Even after pricing and negotiations, there may be some resistance. Use this time to assure the other party that they're making the right decision and will love your product long-term. 7. 🚪Closing: If you've done your work in the earlier stages of the relationship, when it comes time to close the deal, you'll have nothing to worry about. Send the Docusign, touch your knee, and get ready to move the deal to Closed Won. Reminder: After the deal is closed, there is a lot of work to do. The journey continues with planning and constant communications to ensure ongoing satisfaction. Follow for more tips. #sales #b2bsales #salestips #closingdeals #salesprocess

"You're not being as intellectually stimulated as you think you are if everyone around you is saying the same thing." These are the kinds of truth-telling one-liners Africa Brooke is known for. She is an author, consultant, strategist and international speaker with a unique focus: tackling self-sabotage and self-censorship. In her new book, The Third Perspective, coming out on May 14, Africa invites us to return to critical thinking and reduce the pressure we all feel to share our thoughts publicly on social media (where not having the "right" opinion can have damaging consequences). In this episode, Avery and Africa talk about self-censorship, how to communicate more bravely and the power in changing your mind out loud. https://lnkd.in/gJbCnanm
