Would you sleep in a separate bed from your partner, if it meant waking up feeling as fresh as a daisy and ready to carpe diem every single morning? 🌼 Nearly 30 percent of Americans already do, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Writer D’Loraine Miranda unpacks the benefits of having a sleep divorce and why you should consider testing out this slightly controversial but effective bedtime arrangement. Maybe sleep on it, first? 😴

Let’s Normalize Sleeping in Separate Beds! 🛌 |
POV: It’s the night before a big day at work. You’ve just slipped into fresh sheets, your pillow’s at its optimal coolness, and you’re drowsy enough to skip that melatonin gummy… only to be kept up by the ear-splitting snores of a certified duvet hog. Hot take: Perhaps you’re the culprit making your bedmate’s life a living nightmare. Either way, a good night’s sleep is key for your health in pretty much all the ways, which is why many folks are opting for a sleep divorce. WTF is a “sleep divorce”? It’s an arrangement where partners snooze in separate bedrooms to avoid common nightly buzzkills, like unhinged snoring, constant bathroom breaks, restlessness, etc.
And before you freak out, this bed sitch is actually quite common, as the CBC recently reported. In fact, a 2024 study by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine found that nearly 30 percent of Americans have “opted to sleep in another bed in the same bedroom or in another space in the home to accommodate a bed partner.”
Better sleep makes you less of a jerk
Think of the last time you hit snooze on repeat. Did you wake up feeling as fresh as a daisy and ready to carpe diem? *crickets* 🦗
Sleep disruptions can add up to as much as an hour of lost shut-eye (yes, one whole hour!), which takes a negative toll on your health, neurologist Dr. Mark Boulos told CBC. Think difficulties regulating your mood, a dip in cognitive function, and a reduced threshold of pain tolerance, which can affect your productivity, self-esteem… and relationships, psychotherapist Janna Comrie added in the article. Raise your hand if ever you’ve snapped at the poor barista at your local coffee shop or said the most out-of-pocket thing to your partner out of sheer, bloody exhaustion. 🖐️ A separate bedroom? In this economy?!
Yes, we know a true sleep divorce isn’t feasible for many. Luckily, there are some alternatives. The Sleep Foundation recommends trying the viral Scandinavian sleep method (a.k.a. sharing the same bed but sleeping with separate blankets), slipping on an eye mask to block out light, and opting for earplugs to help drown out noise.
FYI: You can still have really good bed chem ❤️🔥 One of the biggest downsides of sleep divorce? The loss of spur-of-the-moment acts of intimacy. But that doesn’t mean the fire’s out for good.
In fact, this type of arrangement can force couples to get more creative and mindful about spending QT together. Perhaps it’s winding down before hitting the hay with chit chat, cuddles, or getting freaky. 👀
Because let’s be real, it’s been proven that having an orgasm reduces stress levels and ups those feel-good hormones—a must for a good night’s sleep. Cue the thermostat set at six-nine (Sabrina Carpenter stans, WYA?). 🌡 🔥
We want to hear from you! Do you and your partner sleep in separate beds? What benefits have you noticed? Downsides? Have you tried it but it didn’t work for you? Tell us everything (as always, answers are completely anonymous)! |

Sorry in Advance to Your Local Coffee Shop |
Wait, you’re still spending $9 on your oat milk latte with vanilla cold foam every morning on your way to work? ☕ It’s not like you’re using your office’s janky coffee machine from 2001 anyway. 😬 But still, making coffee at home doesn’t have to be boring… or bland.
QVC is serving up a piping-hot sale that coffee enthusiasts won’t want to miss. For just $129.98 (and free shipping and handling), you can get a Keurig® K-Supreme™ Single Serve Coffee Maker (original retail price is $189.99), a HyperChiller (which turns hot coffee ice-cold in one minute), 20 Caribou Blend Coffee K-Cups®, a 36-count storage drawer, and a Keurig® voucher for $30 off a $45+ order.
So, why this Keurig® machine specifically? Well, it’s super compact, so it won’t take up much room on your countertop (perfect for small spaces!)—you can even decide if you want the water reservoir on the left or right side of the machine.
Plus, there’s nothing worse than a coffee machine that’s inconsistent—one minute, it’s a strong dark roast, and the next, a watered-down mess. The MultiStream Technology makes sure the coffee grounds in every K-Cup® pod are saturated, for a perfect pour every time. New to QVC? Enjoy $15 off your first $35 order with code WELCOMEQ15. You’re welcome!

| The Protein Pancakes You’ll Fall For |
“Attempting to hit your daily protein goal is essentially a full-time job in and of itself, but this pancake mix by Flourish makes it less of a chore. This specific mix is made with whey protein, but if you’re a Tummy Ache Survivor, check out their plant-based options. It’s got pockets, comes in a lovely shade of navy (and a cream colorway, if that’s more your vibe), and is equal parts cozy in material yet elevated in design! Leave it to the French to come out with something that’s so effortlessly cool.” — Jennifer, staff writer
